Well finally we rolled around to hitting guild level 15. And got our cloaks in the process!
A much nicer change then the default drab they leave you to select.
I've been doing alot of research on what exactly makes guild experience tick and the inner workings thereof. After a lot of reading on the subject and although Mythic likes to disagree on the subject the evidence is there. Because alts/inactive players are slowing down our guild progress we're going to be keeping a watchful eye on inactive status amongst the guild. Because of this you may come in game to see you have been kicked. This is nothing personal whatsoever! Understand we have to do what is in the best intrest of the guild, and that means progression.
If you come in game to see that you are kicked, simply talk to any one of our guild officers to get your invite back.
» The horror of the guild transfer by: ReaXion on: 11/01/2008
Well I guess it's Halloween (or used to be at the time of this writing), so horror should be in all it's glory running around everywhere correct? Well, if only it didn't manage to effect the transfer over to Monolith... It has been anything but pleasant to say the least. Being a guild leader your normally left with alot of problems to solve and roads to climb. But it shouldn't have to be this way. During the guild transfer over to Monolith we (as every other guild was) were left with a very troubling decision which was due in part to Mythic's very own stand in guild management.
What is the biggest problem with current MMO’s you hope to fix with WAR? Depending on the game, being a guild leader can be anywhere from reasonably decent to an exercise in frustration. Guild officers put in a lot of hours organizing and managing to keep their guilds alive. This is a real labor of love, but it can account for a lot of a guild officer’s time. Guilds are the core social mechanism for a MMO and are crucial to a strong vibrant community. Therefore, it stands to reason that guild leaders should have a good suite of tools to do their job and make their lives easier.
Well Bob, you sunk your own battleship, and the community of guilds transferring didn't even call out a shot! Beings they did in fact, put some nice features for guilds to manage, they ignored this during the transfer! I never put emphasis on getting players registered on our site and making sure everyone is on the same page, simply because they're really wasn't much reason too (I guess that's our fault), because Mythic gave us the tools that we needed (for the most part). During this transfer however, that changed!!
So what happened? First let's discuss our two options:
1.) Start fresh and keep the existing guild there... (At level 12? THIS ISN'T EVEN AN OPTION!)
2.) Move it with us (Requiring it get DELETED from the old server) Which is what we chose to do.
Thus in turn, removing everyone, and all contacts within it from knowing what was going on. This was a sour move, instead of players being able to clearly see what was going on as soon as they logged in, now they are left in the dark. What our guild did however do, was take the time to email everyone within in hopes that we could get them transferred over to the new server as horribly possible as it was.
Whats even more, is that the guild cost was 15g to setup, the standard was 20g to setup, and purchasing tactics for the banner cost even more... When this got deleted, we didn't get our money back. Then when we created the guild on the new server, we had to set it back up AND PAYING THE COSTS FOR DOING SO! Doing double the work? Then player names, half of our old player names have been taken.. so most were forced to changed their player name!! ONE THING I ALWAYS STRESS IS NOT CHANGING YOUR PLAYER NAME SO THE COMMUNITY KNOWS WHO YOU ARE! Thanks again Mythic! Even though you didn't charge the players for the move like other games do (because it's your own damn fault to begin with), you sure as hell managed to tax us in the hard spot! Thank you!
So we finally managed to get the guild set back up and in place (the best we could) on Monolith. They managed to screw up the guild ranking system and its troubling setting everyone's permissions because it has to be done via the chatbox...Sigh!
So all of our old friends are more then welcome to come and join us on our new home on Monolith. We are hoping we get everyone back! If anyone has any problems or needs help with this, there are two ways to find us:
1.) Hit O and bring up the social window, in the guild search box, search for Violentricity. That will bring up our guild list with the current players online (of whom should more then likely be able to invite you) so send them a tell [If they can't invite you, they can at least get you to someone who can].
2.) Type /w Axed hey can you invite me (to send a tell to axed or a guild officer [Toxickiss, Tytaniia, Badmagick] who can invite you). Replace Axed with the guild officer's name to whom you can find online at that particular time.
Lesson learned:
Get everyone registered on our site, in ventrilo, and on the same page from this point on. Guild officers, I will need your assistance with this. When inviting someone please make sure you help get them signed up on our site and show them around ventrilo and any issues that may arise. I will be assisting with this heavily. I won't fall victim to this again!
And now we get to wait in line to login to the fucking queue! Great Job Mythic you fucktards!

The server move has been decided amongst our alliance. Monolith is the server of choice. Violentricity will be following our alliance in this move. To make the move as trouble free for everyone, I'd like to remind you guys that before you go moving your characters, make sure that you clean out any auctions you have going, and anything stored within the guild bank (most of which I will move myself), your personal bank, and mail! Anything within those systems WILL NOT be transferred over!
See you all on the Monolith where we will once again bring the violence!

Taken from the .patchnotes Game Update 1.0.4:
We are pleased to announce that in the coming days we will be offering Free Character Transfers from our servers with lower populations to a set of servers with higher populations. To help you better prepare for these transfers we have provided additional details below.
Players on select servers will be able to transfer their characters via the Mythic Account Center. When the service is enabled in the coming days, players will see a Character Transfer button below "Activate a Key" and "Validate your Email Address."
Full details on Character Transfers can be found within this section, and we encourage you to read all of the information very carefully before you make a decision about your transfer, because it is very important. Once you have read the instructions and prepared your character in-game, simply follow the steps to select the character you wish to transfer and your desired destination server.
We are also pleased to announce the Guild Transfer functionality. Instructions on the functionality of this feature and its limitations can also be found on the Character Transfer page. It is strongly recommended you read these instructions closely before proceeding, because they contain very important information. We encourage guild leaders to take their time when preparing to transfer their guild as it cannot be reversed.
The following is a list of Source and Destination servers. Players can move to any available Destination servers based on ruleset. Use this list as a guide to help you and your friends if you intend to move to one of the available Destination servers, but please note that this information is subject to change. So it seems that character transfers will be going live soon!!! I will find out what our alliance is doing and as soon as I know, I'll be sure to send it down the wire to everyone else! Good news indeed!
Incase you haven't here's a little word on it from Mark Jacobs:
Folks,
Over the last few weeks the team has implementing a transfer system to allow both players and guilds to move between our servers. This technology was not available for WAR at launch and building it has proven to be a little more complex than originally expected. I’m happy to say that starting next week we will begin public testing of the service and if things go well, we will be able to offer it free to our players (for a limited time) either next week or the week after that. I apologize for the delay in making this service available but again, it did take a little longer than we originally expected.
We will be posting details next week about the public test and then the parameters for the free service.
So it seems that pretty soon they're going to allow us to transfer to another server, one with more population which will lead to lower scenario queue times, more RVR combat, and more then likely a lot more going on as a server. Which is definitely a great thing. While I think our Alliance is moving together (While I at least hope we are), one of my thoughts (based on my experience with WoW PVP servers) is that a PVP server will more then likely yield a greater gameplay factor. While it isn't fun having your healer attacked by the enemy faction during a public quest, it does in itself lead to a more interactive game. Based on my previous MMO experiences with PVP servers, the thing that comes to mind the most is just how well PVP servers have always done in regards to server population. My hopes in the server move is that they allow us to migrate over to a PVP server. While this may seem like the best option for myself and the most interesting, others may not feel the same way.
What are your thoughts on the system? What do you think we should take into consideration when moving? Where would you like to spread the violence?
Let’s start with what we know is some truly exciting news. I’m happy to announce that in December, the Black Guard and the Knight of the Blazing Sun will officially be part of WAR. We have very special plans around their appearance and in our next newsletter we will provide full details about that exciting and rather novel event. When they were cut from the game launch plans earlier this year, I said that the Black Guard and the Knight would be part of WAR only when they were great and deserved their place alongside all of WAR’s other compelling classes. I also said that we would not charge any additional fees for this new content or put it in a separate expansion pack; that’s not how we operate. We’ve kept to that plan and with the introduction of these two classes, Mythic shows that once again we are happy to keep giving players more value for their subscription dollars than any other MMORPG developer.
I've Posted 2 New Shots of these classes in the gallery right here so you can check them out!
Creating an MMORPG, especially an RvR-focused MMORPG, which runs perfectly on all types of PCs, is one of the most challenging technical aspects of game development. While the performance of WAR is great on most higher spec machines, we know that we can improve its performance on lower spec machines. We’ve been working non-stop to improve that performance and we’ve got a number of things going into the game between now and 1.1 that we expect will help to address everything from crashes to desktops (CTDs) to stuttering. We have a number of other client changes that will improve things such as propagation and ghosting. Thanks in part to WAR’s success; our mail system that worked well in Beta has been straining to keep up with the heavy demand placed on it. It’s functional and it works, but it can also be slow and cumbersome to use. In all fairness to the team, the system’s problems have been magnified by the demand of having so many servers and players using it at the same time. That’s not an excuse though and we are working hard on deploying a substantially improved mail system for this patch. We will continue to enhance WAR’s mail system until it is one of the best mail systems found in any MMORPG. Moving on to some more good news for our RvR players; we have brought additional resources to bear on, and augment, our RvR gear and overall itemization. In 1.1 (and beyond) we will be doing a myriad of things for our RvR players, including improving gear drops, increasing drop rates, and implementing an RvR-influence system to compliment the current PvE-influence system. We will also be giving players more incentive to engage in open RvR by improving the rewards for both assaulting and defending in RvR. WAR is an RvR-centric game and we will continue to do whatever is necessary to encourage people to join in RvR and reward them when they do so.
Other changes for 1.1 include major additions to the chat system (item linking and more) as well as continued work on our targeting system, including adding Main Assist and Target of Target. In addition to the server balancing methods that have worked so well over the last week, we will also be offering the first server transfers to our players to continue to help even out the server populations. These transfers will be free of charge but they will be limited to moves off high-population servers to select mid-population servers or off of low-population servers to a selection of mid-population servers. Much like we are doing now, we will select certain mid-population servers and let people transfer there. Once they reach a certain population level, we’ll remove them from the list and give their spot to another server. We will publish the list ahead of time so players can plan their moves accordingly. While that might seem like a lot for a month, we’re not done yet! We’ll also be adding more exciting content to the game, including fourteen entirely new quest chains, two new Lairs, and many more Tome of Knowledge unlocks! This is only the first of what will be our ongoing content updates to WAR and it is a great start.
So, that about wraps it up for this first annual State of the Game, so without further ado…
Okay, so I was joking, we’re still not done. Over the last month the team has been looking at all the careers and building up a list of issues/concerns to address. Almost every career is going to see some changes and love coming their way and there are very, very few changes that will be seen as reductions to a career’s abilities. The Combat and Careers team has spent the last month looking at the changes that they want to make with an eye towards making improvements and buffs, not removing or weakening abilities. I won’t go into details here but the vast majority of careers all have nothing but love coming their way. Of course, we will continue to monitor and track all the class data so expect, like every other MMORPG, changes to the careers to be an ongoing process.
Well, that just about wraps my first WAR State of the Game and I hope that it has given you some insight into what we are going to be doing over the next month or so. This is by no means a comprehensive list of everything we are working on and I won’t go anywhere near talking about general bug fixes. The items mentioned above are just some of the highlights of our first major patch and I hope you agree that there is a ton of good stuff coming down the pipeline.
So to all those of you hoping your class gets that extra bit of love, it looks like the love is going to be equally shared! Let's hope the love is just the right kind that all classes were looking for!! Good things are on the way. W00t!
Now that we're steadily creeping the guild ahead in progress, and there is no change in pace as we climb the guild ranks, it's time to start getting everyone ready to start some practice runs in capping some guild keeps. It's also time we seriously sat down and decided who we should bring in as a guild alliance. I've talked to a few guilds and will keep considering others but this is more of a group question rather than a leader's decision. I'd like to ask everyone what their opinions are on what guild we should align with. Votes will be tallied and we'll make arrangements to get that guild on board. Reply in this post or in the private forums so we can start giving this some serious consideration. Get your gear ready as we get set to tackle some keeps!
» Warhammer Official Patch Information by: ReaXion on: 10/10/2008
I don't know why Mythic hides such valuable information in such hidden areas. YOU THINK THE PATCH INFORMATION WOULD BE DISPLAYED ON THE LAUNCHER?!!? But regardless, I found a nifty page that lists are current patch information to date. If your wondering whats going on behind the scenes at mythic regarding changes to WAR, you can check out this page which lists all of the patch information to date. Just thought I'd post this out in the open for all to see, just in case.
» Warhammer going 1.01 Today! by: ReaXion on: 10/02/2008
From the Warhammer herald:
On October 2nd, 2008 all North American servers will be coming down for an update to version 1.01 at 8AM EDT. Oceanic servers are scheduled to follow at 9:30AM EDT. Estimated downtime is four hours (12PM EDT for NA Servers, 1:30PM EDT for Oceanic servers).
Some of the changes include:
- Players no longer need to scroll down through the EUALA when logging into the game. The window now defaults to the bottom, and
- Players need only check the Agreement box and click accept.
- The war against the gold sellers continues! We have made improvements to the Appeal system to allow players to report spam messages from gold sellers more quickly.
- TAB-targeting should now more consistently select the nearest enemy in the player's field of view.
- Continued improvements have been made to client stability and performance.
» Congrats Flyingrice & Toxic!!! by: ReaXion on: 09/23/2008
For putting on one hell of a show inside Warhammer! Coming out on top in double standards! Hitting not only the weekly top stats, but also the top overall. In not just one category, but two! First in the champions category which holds the top 10 players for the number of influence points acquired. Toxic came in 9th place, and FlyingRice rounded out the top 10.
Then in the Defenders Category which holds the top 10 players for the number of times they ranked first after the competition of a public quest, FlyingRice ties for first place! And Toxic finishes in 3rd.
What an impressive showing our first week out the gates! Way to spread the violence guys! I'm damn proud to be gaming with you guys for well over 5 years! Keep kicking ass out there!! I think I speak for the entire guild when I say thanks for your hard work on our behalf!!!
